He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray H. Herndon and Mabel Herndon (Grubb); and his wife Margo Herndon. He is survived by: his children, Angel Perhne (Brian) and Joe Barr (Christy); his grandchildren, Wyatt Sawyer, Emily Barr and Ella Barr; his sister Ellen R. Herndon; and his mother-in-law Billie Tipton.
