He was predeceased by: his parents, Vestal C. Hopson and Edith McInturff Hopson; his sister Rebecca Marie Hopson; his mother-in-law Mary Engle; and his sisters-in-law, Cindy Hopson and Judy Hopson.
He is survived by: his wife Cynthia Engle Hopson; his children, Christy Nichole Hopson, Hampton, Brandon Douglas Hopson (Fidah) of Chicago, IL, Alexis Marie Rogers (Anthony), Boones Creek, Holly Nichole Reed (Phillip) and Jessica Danielle Luttrell (Jon); his siblings, James A. Hopson, Wayne Hopson (Barbara), Doyle Hopson (Shannon), Don Hopson (Glenda) of Aynor, SC, Bobby Hopson of Unicoi, Gary Hopson (Shari) of Unicoi and Betty Hawkins (Larry); his brother-in-law Shannon Engle (Tamera); and his grandchildren, Sydnie Reynolds, Lilly Hopson, Owen Hopson, Ayden Hopson, Madison Lung, Ryker Holt, Hayden Rogers, Harper Rogers, Cash Reed, Skye Reed, Knox Reed, Layla Turner and Lenox Luttrell. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
