He was predeceased by: his daughter Ashley Ault; and his brother Mark Ault. He is survived by: his mother Pauline Bailey Ault; his wife Linda McDuffie Ault; his children, A. J. Cooper (Sarah) and Kayla Ault Hughes (Logan); his grandchildren, Taylor Cooper, Hailey Cooper, Ryleigh Hughes and Ariya Hughes; his siblings, Susie Thomas (Kelvin) of Erwin, Vida Hughes (Tim) of Erwin, Paul Ault, Jr. (Janice) and Burnie Ault (Peggy); his sister-in-law Paggy McDuffie; his great-nephew Michael Brown; and his close friends, Mike Shell, Alvin, Cindy Ollis, Scott Foster, Shane, Shannah Eggers, Mary Carver, Pam and Waylon Lewis.
