He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Bailey and Martha Evelyn Huskins Bailey; and his grandmother Bathilda Harris Bailey. He is survived by: his wife Evalena "Tina" Gillenwater Bailey; his daughter Kayla Lucinda Gillenwater (Boones Creek); his siblings-in-law, Peggy Joe Gillenwater Quillen and Douglas Gillenwater (Erwin); his nieces and nephews, Lisa Wells of Gate City, VA, Katy Logan, Lee Gillenwater of Erwin, John P. Gillenwater of Erwin and Tony Quillen of Gate City, VA; his close friend Terry Keesee; his goddaughter Jessica Satterfield (Caleb); and also Levi of Greeneville, SC..
