He was predeceased by: his parents, Almond Schmidt and Frances Schmidt; his granddaughter Daphne Reason; his brother Austin Schmidt; and his brothers-in-law, Gene Powell and Jessie Self.
He is survived by: his wife Sheri Schmidt; his children, David Schmidt, Rose Austin (Lennie), Nora Coleman (Weldon) and Verna Reason (Billy); his sisters, Rachel Varden (Bubba), Wanda Self, Dottie Self (Terry) and Rosie Powell; and his grandchildren, Chris Austin (Maghan), Jonathan Austin (Savannah), Cheyenne Coleman, Elisha Coleman, Owen Reason and Ella Coleman. He is also survived by five great grandchildren.
