He is survived by: his parent Pauline Nusetta Dowell Batson; his wife Vicki Hurt Shelton; his children, Amanda Shelton Valentine (Wade) and Thomas "Sam" Samuel Shelton (Courtney); his niece Julie Brady; and his nephew Lance Brady.
