Lloyd James Puett, Jr. Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lloyd James Puett, Jr. (residing in middle Tennessee), born in Akron, Ohio, who passed away on January 18, 2024, at the age of 71. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jane - his father, Lloyd Sr - his sister, Kathy - his brother, Karl - and his youngest brother, Rod. He has one living sibling, Vicky, as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.. Lloyd never married and had no children, but spent 40 years of his life with his partner, Billie. She is still in California and your prayers for her time of grief are appreciated.
Lloyd was the second of the five children. He was always thoughtful and athletic. He loved baseball and even made the tryouts for a pro team. Lloyd loved the beach and surfing. For a while he lived with friends in Huntington Beach (he spoke often of that time). He loved hiking and camping, as well as many trips to enjoy the beautiful California desert. He loved the mountains and skied a bit. Lloyd had a wry sense of humor and laughed a lot. He loved children and had a real way with them. He made many friends and acquaintances during his adventurous lifetime and he will be sorely missed.
He was always especially close to his father, Lloyd Sr. and worked with him as an industrial electrician for his entire life. (Lloyd's two brothers were also electricians who worked with their dad). For most of his life, Lloyd also worked with his father as a thoroughbred horse trainer. Both Lloyds loved horses and really understood them. Lloyd's nature was a lot like that of a horse - spirited, athletic, independent, intelligent and loyal - oh and he could be a bit stubborn. When Lloyd's father passed away a few years ago, it broke his heart. They were so close, he never really got over the loss.
Lloyd had some health issues that he never complained about. Unfortunately last June, he suffered a stroke that affected his mobility and speech, as well as a few other problems. He had some additional complications from a fall some months later, and his health continued to deteriorate. He had a difficult time dealing with his inability to be independent. Later in life, Lloyd did accept Jesus Christ as his Savior and although bed-ridden, prayed for those he loved, including Billie and a special young man named Kenton. He also prayed for others whom he felt he should pray for. We're thankful for Lloyd, his faith and his prayers.
Lloyd will be cremated and we will have a private family service to honor him and his life. Please, no flowers or gifts. Lloyd would be delighted to have your prayers of thanks and faith raised up to our Lord.
Read and share some of your times with Lloyd... leave a message and/or memory on his memorial page. Your thoughts and memories keep Lloyd and our love for him alive in our hearts
