He was predeceased by: his parents, Earnest Self and Ruby Tanner Self; his son Tony Self; his stepmother Katherine Self; and his sister Brenda McKinnon.
He is survived by: his wife Wanda Sue Self; his children, Jessie Massie (Loretta), Donna Self Scott (Wayne), Melissa Self Owens (Bob) and Vickie Woodard; and his siblings, Earl Self, Hazel Clark, Wanda Watson and Joyce Mosley. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
