He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray Howell and Ova Howell; his wife Berta Mildred Howell; and his siblings, Jessie Lee (Raymond), Nellie Fern Howell, Ray Thomas Howell, William Herman Howell (Bill) and Vera Marie.
He is survived by: his sisters, Wilma Boylin of Nashville and Laverne of Nashville; his brother-in-law Bryant Fuqua of Nashville; and his friend Jo Anne Lewandowski. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
