He was predeceased by: his parents, Jeff Brooks and Mary Lou Mason Brooks; his son Dan Brooks; his granddaughter Alekah Brooks; and his siblings, T. L., Johnny Brooks, Elizabeth Raper, Sue Robinson, Marie Brock and Laidean Watson.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Hamilton Brooks; his daughters, Sandra Brooks, Lisa and Trae Atkins; his grandchildren, Cody, Anna Elliott, Melissa Brooks, Michael Brooks, Brian Brison and Lucas Atkins; his great grandchildren, Kansas Brison, Elijah Brison and Justin Elliott; and his daughter-in-law Denise Brooks. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and other extended family.
