He was predeceased by : his birth mother Darla Weems-Jupin (Fred Weems); his adoptive father James E. Smith, Sr.; and his brothers, Clarence Leroy Miles and James E. Smith, Jr.. He is survived by : his adoptive mother Pearl Smith (James E. Smith, Sr.); his children, Jalen Smith (Madyson), Raekwon Grimes, Terrance Lucy, Torrian Lucy, Ellianna Weems-Smith, Londyn Pearl Weems-Smith, Isabella Weems-Smith, William Weems-Smith II and Vesaree Weems-Smith; his mother Pearl Miles Smith of Virginia; his grandchildren, Javon Smith, Azalea Grace Lawson and A'saiah Grimes; his siblings, Lillian Owens (Barry), Jan Stephens, Derby Butz (Les), Shirley Thomas (Arnold), Karen Smith, Robert Jupin and Thomas Jupin; his uncle James Weems; and his aunt Gale Weems. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
