He was predeceased by: his wife Alice Joan Zimmerman Ely; his children, Debi Taylor and Greg Ely; his mother Margaret Smiley Ely; and his brother Robert Ely.
He is survived by: his daughter Pat Church. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
