It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Phyllis Magdalene Whittemore Hale of Elizabethton, Tennessee, who passed away on February 17, 2025, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Herman Pettibone Whittemore and Ida Florence Hill Whittemore; her husband Townie Jeter "T. J." Hale Jr.; and her son Townie Jeter Hale, III. She is survived by: her daughter Holli Anna Hale Fair (Sean) of Elizabethton; her granddaughter Haley Fair Garland (Isaac) of Elizabethton; her daughter Betsy Duarte Shepard (Gary); her brothers, Benny Whittemore of Elizabethton and Louis Whittemore (Donna) of Knoxville; her pet Susie; and her caregivers, Debbie Stout, Carolyn Jackson and Valerie Vines. She is also survived by Several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home (101 E F St, Elizabethton, TN 37643). A celebration of life was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 at 7:00 PM and on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 at 7:00 AM at the Hathaway Percy Funeral and Cremation Services (101 E F St, Elizabethton, TN 37643). A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 at 10:15 AM and at 11:00 AM.
