It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Nathaniel C Payne of Elizabethton, Tennessee, who passed away on October 30, 2024, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. In the sacred silence of farewell, Nathaniel is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that his light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of his loved ones. And as his memory is carried forward, may comfort be found in the knowledge that love is eternal, and that Nathaniel's spirit lives on in the beauty that surrounds us.
He was predeceased by: his parents, George Payne and Aida Gouge Payne; his wife Rita "Mattie" Grindstaff Payne; and his siblings, Joseph, Vernon Payne, Mary Hart, Doris Chancey and Norma Braddock.
He is survived by: his brother-in-law Anthony Grindstaff (Betty); and his caregivers, Jerry and Barbara Hyder. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
