He was predeceased by: his son Richard V. "Rickey" Guffey; his parents, Clarence Guffey and Estell Guffey; and his sisters, Geraldine Morris and Murrel Wilbur.

He is survived by: his wife Joyce Guffey; his sons, William Arvil "Skip" Guffey, H. Eddie "Ed" Guffey (Carolyn) and Jeff C. Guffey (Suzanne); and his grandsons, Jacob, Christopher, Matthew and Michael Guffey. He is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
