He was predeceased by: his parents, Mamie May and L. B. Putnam; his wife Patsy Pope Putnam; and his grandparents, Henry H, Lula Levan May of Chattanooga, Will and Fannie Stephenson Putnam of Jacksonville, Alabama..

He is survived by: his grandchildren, Michael Putnam (Ruth), Michele Holtz (Anthony), Michael Wilkins, Michaela, Megan Wilkins, Allison Putnam, William and Tonilynn Holtz.
