He was predeceased by: his parents, Eldon Porter and Martha Porter; and his daughter Regina Floyd York. He is survived by: his wife Norma Worley Porter; his children, Susan Evans (Kelly), Beckie Self (Scott), Tracey Haupt, David Michael Porter, Tommy Smith (Karen), Michael Smith and Lisa Hartley; and his siblings, Frank Porter (Connie), Tim Porter, Jim Porter (Margaret), Dan Porter (Ruth Ann) and Carol Krensky (Bob). He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, many dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 29th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home (404 S Moore Rd, East Ridge, TN 37412). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 30th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
David Nelson "Coach" Porter went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday April 23, 2025, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer and Dementia.
