He was predeceased by: his wife Linda Sue Bell Johnston; his parents, Ira Johnston and Cleo Tollett Johnston; and his siblings, Maxine Douglas, Mary Lewis and Berbin Johnston.
He is survived by: his children, Sheila Johnston, Roseanna Kilgore (Burt), Alice Stone (Andrew) and Darrell Johnston (Megan); and his sister Pauline Easterly. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
