He was predeceased by: his wife Sue Herron Johnson; his parents, Wade Johnson and Callie Johnson; and his sister Wanda Rae Johnson. He is survived by: his sons, Lamar Johnson (Vivian) of Dunlap and Michael Johnson of Dunlap; his grandchildren, Brandon Johnson (Amy), Michaela Campbell (Paul), Macy Johnson, Caleb and Logan Johnson; his great grandchild Elliott Johnson; and his siblings, Claudine Burch (Johnny) of Dunlap, Effie Lasater of Red Bank and Sonny Johnson (Sharon). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
