With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Preston Ellis Cates Sr. of Dunlap, Tennessee, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Preston Ellis left this world on August 25, 2024 at the age of 84, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Tommie Cates and Beatrice Cates; and his sisters, Sue Cates Amundson and Martha Cates Layne. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Cates; his children, Carla Rhea Cates, Preston Ellis "Tony" Cates, Jr. and Marshall Brent Cates; his grandchildren, Alex Pirkle (Brea), Andrew Pirkle (Liz), Jake (Victoria), Blake (Kaytlin), Kyle (Anna Kate), Preston Ellis "Pep" III, Julia and Ellis Cates; and his sister Tommie. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his memory to Sequatchie County Cancer Support Network, The Gideons International, or a charity of your choice.
