She was predeceased by: her parents, Buford Tate and Sarah Scott Tate; her son Danny Stewart Akins; and her siblings, David, Linuel, Sherman, Richard, Phillip Tate, Ruth McGee and Jean Fults.

She is survived by: her husband Ronnie; her children, Shannon Phipps, Craig Akins and Kevin Akins (Jennifer); and her sister Annie Mae King. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
