He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmon Sims and Dorothy Sunderland Sims; and his brothers, Douglas, Donnie, Larry, Ricky and Jake Sims.
He is survived by: his wife Catherine Farley Sims; his children, Imogene Cribbs (James), Jane White (Tim), Sherry Walker (Cecil), Marie Ledford (Eddie), Katherine Ann Sims, Edward Sims, Jr., Justin Lee Sims and Teresa Sims; and his sister Marsha Branum. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.
