He was predeceased by: his parents, Gilbert Layne and Mamie Sanders Layne; and his siblings, Kenneth, Larry, Buddy, David, Mack Layne, Nola Turner and Iretta Fuller.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Jean Higdon Layne; his children, Darryl Layne (Sherrie), Scott Layne and Sheila Witcher (Steve); his sisters, Dot Holland (Robert) and Judy Hartman (Ben); his grandchildren, Cody Witcher (Cristin), Tisha Witcher (Chance Shular), Tasha Turley (Adam), Brittany Farley (John) and Zach Layne (Taylor); and his great grandchildren, Kellan Heyn, Brylee Newberry, Chloe Witcher, Cambree Witcher, Gracie Layne, Tanner and Ellie Farley.
