He is survived by: his wife Shirley Jean Hughes; his children, Kimberly Potter-Byrd (Bob Byrd), Gerald (Debra Hughes, Jr.), Cynthia Suits-Gerkey (Roger Gerkey), Natalie Hughes and Lori (Mark Raper); his brother James Douglas; his sisters-in-law, Carol Hughes and Jackie Hughes; his grandchildren, Holly Norton, Heather Hedden, Jason Potter, Matthew Hughes, Cortney Hook, Sarah Potter, Christi Suits-Young, Jerad Potter, Lucas Raper, Logan Suits, Heaven Suits, Cody Thomason and Zachary Thomason; and his stepgrandchildren, Taylor Byrd, Travis Byrd, James Gerkey and Thasha Garren. He is also survived by twenty-five great-grandchildren.
