She was predeceased by: her parents, Herman Smith and Bonnie Holloway Smith; her siblings, David Smith, Jerry Smith and Naomi Mullen; and her husband William Roy Startup.

She is survived by: her sister Peggy Rector; her children, William "Buddy" Startup Jr. (Nancy), Don Startup (Allison), James "Jimmy" Startup (Kim) and Susan Dill (Loyd); her grandsons, Drew Startup (Lauren), Will Startup (Lauren), Nick Startup (Allie), Matthew Startup, Stephen Startup and Tim Wu; and her great grandchildren, Copeland, Price, Jude, Henley, Afton, Lark, Ellany Kate, Beckett and Daphne. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
