He was predeceased by: his parents, King Charles Matthews and Eileen Peebles Matthews; his brother King Charles Matthews Jr.; and his parents-in-law, Frank H. Carter, Sr. and Dolly Carter.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Carter Matthews; his daughters, Leanne Galloway (Hunter) and Laura Conklin (Alex); and his grandchildren, Reese, Reagan, Kenzlee and Emmitt. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
