He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Peggy Anne Milam Gilmore; his parents, William Frances Clayborn Gilmore and Dorothy Winona Spradlin Gilmore; his children, Keith Gilmore (Caroline) and Karla Gilmore; his grandchildren, Heath Ellis, Preston Gilmore, Stephanie Gilmore and Julia Gilmore Curtis (Dillon); and his great grandchild Brooklyn Ann Renee Ellis. He was also cherished by nieces, nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that respects to his memory be made by making donations to the Vanleer School Library.
