He was predeceased by: his wife Bobbye Faye Carroll; and his parents, Lucy Florence Carroll and Barby Newton Carroll (Winchester). He is survived by: his daughters, Debbie Carroll Jones, Marty Jones of Kinston, NC, Shelia Carroll and Richard Korski of Atlanta, GA; his granddaughter Ashley Williams Herring; his daughter Mary Carroll Herring of Raleigh, NC; and also Stephen Herring. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great nephews and great nieces.

The family requests memorial tributes are made to the Alzheimers Association.
