He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Mason and Ethel Crowder Mason; his wife Mary Lucille Davis Mason; his son James Richard Mason; his grandson James Adam Mason; and his brother Billy C. Mason.
He is survived by: his children, Dr. Larry D. Mason (Vicki), Connie Landrum (Jeff) of Decatur and Carla Ottinger (Lynn) of Decatur; and his sister Betty Thompson of Huntsville, AL. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; several nieces, a nephew, and other extended family.
