She was predeceased by: her parents, Jess Mickel and Nola Mickel; her son Mike Hawkins; her granddaughter Melissa Brackett; and her siblings, Naomi Tipton, Maxine Mickel, Johnny, Junior and Melvin Mickel.
She is survived by: her children, Teresa Byrd (Teddy), Amy Hawkins and Robert Hawkins (Becky); and her sister Margaret Yearwood of Dayton, TN. She is also survived by five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild along with several nieces and nephews.
