He was predeceased by: his parents, James Thomas and Annie Lou Michaels; his grandchildren, Felichia Michaels and Brake Johnson; and his sister Betty Atkins.
He is survived by: his wife Arleda Michaels (Vaughn); his children, Kandi Self of Dayton, TN, Timmy Michaels (Cathy) of Dayton, TN, Tommy Michaels (Tammy) of Dayton, TN and Chancey Michaels of Dayton, TN; and his siblings, Ronald "Mike", Douglas Michaels of Florida, Bill Michaels of Pikeville, TN, Larry Michaels of Georgia and Linda Michaels of South Carolina. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild along with several nieces and nephews.
