He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles H. Kiefer and Mary Elizabeth Kilcourse Kiefer; and his brother Charles Kiefer (Mary Ann Kiefer). He is survived by: his children, David Kiefer (Mitzi) of Knoxville, Suzanne Kiefer of Dayton and Christopher Kiefer (Christine) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and his grandchildren, Michael Petro, Elyssa Robbins (Jesse), Sarah LeRay (Nicholas), Shauna Mackey, Phillip Kiefer and Christopher Kiefer.
