He is survived by: his wife Dortha Ann Thornton Ellis; his son Darrell Ellis (Brenda) of Chestnut Hill; his granddaughter Whitney Ehlers (Ben) of Bethel Park, PA; and his great grandchildren, Alexis, Jaxon and Ginia of Bethel Park, PA..
