He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Elder and Myrtle Lindsey Elder; his son-in-law Derek Thomas; his parents-in-law, Jake and Rozella Johnson Miller; his brother Charles "Charlie" Elder; and his brother-in-law Dean Hodge.
He is survived by: his wife Dramah Elder; his children, Carolyn Elder Thomas and David Elder (Kristy); his grandchildren, Brittany Cogdill (Dakota) and Collin Elder (Emily); his great grandchild Matti; his sisters, Georgia Hodge, Catherine Shepherd (Ronald) and Betty Loveday (Willard); and his sister-in-law Donna Elder. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
