He was predeceased by: his parents, John Sargent and Mollie Sargent; his wife Darlene Sargent; his children, Debra Walker and Roger Dale Sargent; and his siblings, George Sargent, Daniel Fields, Roxie Sargent, Virginia King, Lucille Ely and Sarepta Alice Large.
He is survived by: his children, Charlotte Duncan Hawks of Mount Airy, NC, Johnny Sargent, Tim Sargent, Jimmy Sargent of King, NC, Joe Sargent and Ron Sargent of Morristown, TN; his stepchildren, Steve West of Altavista, VA, Monica Poff, Gail Clevenger of Salem, VA, Wayne Manspile and Robert Manspile of Salem; and his sisters, Irene Gann of Dandridge, TN and Joyce Hampton of Indianapolis, IN. He is also survived by twenty-six grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
