He was predeceased by: his parents, Horace Proffitt and Ida Proffitt Ray; and his siblings, Alice Cox, Lillian Massengill, Mabel and Raymond Proffitt.
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Lowery Proffitt; his niece Rachael Knowland (Poore); and his sister Ethel Shelton. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 26th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Farrar Funeral Home - Dandridge (162 E Meeting St, Dandridge, TN 37725). A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 27th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Swanns Chapel Cemetery (1070 Burchfield Rd, Dandridge, TN 37725).
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Swann's Chapel Cemetery Fund, c/o Swann's Chapel Baptist Church; 1309 Waterfront Drive - Dandridge, TN 37725.
