He was predeceased by: his wife Gertrud Barton; his parents, John Riley Barton and Lucy Mae Barton (McGhee); and his siblings, Douglas Barton, Earnest Barton, J. C. Bailey, Elizabeth Winston and Ninabee Long.

He is survived by: his sons, John Raymond Barton, Edmond George Barton (Sandy), Franklin Douglas Barton (Cathy) and Michael Anthony Barton (Rosanna); his grandchildren, Luke, Andrew, Zechariah, Gabriella, Matthew and Isaac; and his brothers, Riley Barton and Clint Bailey.
