He was predeceased by: his parent Carl Barbee; and his siblings, Paul Barbee, Harry Barbee, George Barbee, Willard Barbee, Wanda Barbee, Dorothy Noonkesser, Lois Koppe and Carol Pangerc.
He is survived by: his parent Annie Zirkle Barbee; his wife Louise Dean Barbee; his children, Deanna Barbee and Stan Barbee (Melissa); his grandchildren, Kayleigh and Isaac Barbee; and his siblings, Ben Barbee, French Barbee, Pauline Roach and Barbara LaCoste. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
His grandchildren said "the best papaw a kid could ask for. He had the best stories anyone could tell. He will be remembered for his devotion to family and friends and his keen sense of humor. Graveside funeral services and military honors will held Friday, December 7, 2018, 2:00pm at Hillcrest Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Norris officiating. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to the Vietnam Veterans of America, VVA Chapter#1073, P.O. Box 3326, Morristown, TN 37815.
