He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Hargis and Frances Hargis; and his brother Jim Hargis. He is survived by: his wife Nancy Hargis; his children, Debbie of Dandridge, Duane and Richard (Angela) of Georgia; his brother Bill (Nedra) of Georgia; and his sister-in-law Maxine Hargis of Knoxville. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
