He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Cate and Evaudna Cate of Dandridge; his siblings, Betty Cate Ballard and Gary Cate; and his brother-in-law Alfred Ballard.
He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Taylor Cate; his daughter Pamela Cate Cosner; his grandson Billy Cosner; his siblings, Celeste (Condon Batson), Wanda (Jim Smith), JoAnn (James Morgan) and Charles (Elizabeth Cate); and his sister-in-law Dorothy Cate.
