He was predeceased by: his parents, Ancel Purcell and Ruth Clark Purcell; and his children, Becky Purcell and Michael Purcell. He is survived by: his wife Dixie Keene Purcell; and his sons, Randall Purcell (Susan) and Ricky Purcell (Emma). He is also survived by six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

“This is his great nephew Jason. I was just thinking about him when i met him in Arkansas with grandpa, i was so intrigued. He was a hero to me and though i didnt last long in the Army, I survived. Im now 44, and been battling brain cancer and the recovery and side effects but im still kicking. I have a great wife and 3 beautiful kids i wish couldve met you guys. Best wishes.”
