He was predeceased by: his parents, James Carl and Frances Carter McDavid; his wife Susan McDavid; and his siblings, Rick McDavid and Darla Hilton.
He is survived by: his sons, Shane McDavid (Heather) of Shelbyville, KY and Eric McDavid (Natasha) of Pennington Gap, VA; his grandchildren, Caitlin, Reece, Timothy and Charles; his siblings, Bill McDavid of Jonesville, VA, Brenda Cox of Gate City, VA and Terra McDavid; and his close friend Randy Napier. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
