He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert F. Jelen and Joan Jelen (Chulak). He is survived by: his friend SJ Choi; his siblings, Jeanette Garcia (Mario) of Texas, Barbara Jelen of Georgia and Bill Jelen (Mary Ellen) of Florida; and his former wife Wendy J. Wilson. He is also survived by three nephews and a grand-nephew.
