He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Frank Burgess and Marcia Burgess; his wife Helen Burgess; his children, Sharon Watson, Stanley Watkins (Doris), Cecil Burgess, Penny Van Wirt (Tom) and Casey Burgess (Melanie); and his siblings, Everett Burgess, Lena Davis, Geneva Roberts, Francis Rose, Lora Stevens, Zella Reynolds, Floyd Burgess, Junior Burgess, Roy Burgess and Howard Burgess.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family plans to have a memorial service after the pandemic restrictions have been lifted and risks to family and friends are reduced.
