She was predeceased by: her husband Ralph Vowell; her parents, Dave Freytag and Suzie Freytag; and her sisters, Marjorie Rich and Libby Neal.
She is survived by: her sisters, Rosemary Hamby and Mildred Young; her children, Sharon Vertner (George), David Newberry (Amanda) and Bobby Newberry (Chasity); and her stepdaughter Renee Aschmann. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren.
