He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Sumner and Elsie Perry Sumner; his brothers, Edward Bishop and Ronnie Sumner; and his sister-in-law Barbara Sumner.

He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Sumner; his children, Deanna Sumner Combs (Troy) of Big Creek, KY and Gary Donavan Sumner (Christa) of Sassafras, KY; his siblings, Mitchell Sumner (Ina) of Monticello, KY, Winona Maggard (Walter) of Louisville, KY, Betty Combs (Bob) of Partridge, KY and Anna Mae Whitaker (Linnia) of Viper, KY; his grandchildren, Lyndci Combs Cornett (Justin), Robert Shane Combs, Makenzie Sumner and Madison Sumner; his great grandchild Rohan Zane Cornett; and his parents-in-law, Wilma, Pat, Louise, Shirley, Rex and Delane. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, family & friends.

Although i was not able to attend his services in ky, i wanted you to know how very sorry i am for your loss! We go back a long way and my heart is sad for you and your family, but may you find comfort and peace that he no longer struggles.
