He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Sheila Walden; his sons, Brian Whaley (Shannon) and David Whaley (Diane); his grandchildren, Kendall Nelson (Tyler), David Whaley, Jr., Hayden Whaley (Amanda), Hauna Whaley and Noah Whaley; his great grandchildren, Greyson Nelson, Lyla Nelson, Marley Nelson, Porter Whaley and Presleigh Whaley; his sister Janice Cassady (Eddie); his niece Debbie Wibbing; and his nephews, Forest and Kage Wibbing. He was also cherished by his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
