He is survived by: his wife Judith Ann; his children, Daniel J. Mathes (Colleen) of South Carolina and Susan C. Mathes Guidinger (Scott) of Crossville; his grandchildren, Tony, Sarah, Grant Mathes and Christopher Guidinger; and his great grandchild Avery.
