He is survived by: his parent Elizabeth Hegwood; his children, Beth Meadows of Birmingham, AL, Peggy Hegwood of Cowan, TN and Wayne "Bubba" Hegwood, Jr. of Austin, TX; his nephew Logan "Chip" VanLeigh, Jr. of Deer Lodge, TN; and his grandchildren, Ben Meadows, David Meadows, Jake Hegwood, Alice Hegwood and Jackson Hegwood.
