He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Dawson and Mildred Louise Dawson; his son Michael Dawson (Cindy); and his siblings, Lawrence Dawson, Wayne Dawson and Jean Smith.
He is survived by: his daughters, Patsy Hatfield and Darlene Long (John). He is also survived by eight grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
